A Trip Down Winn Lane

Hey all!

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a wondrous New Year! Our first adventure of the new year was to a funky little place called Winn Lane.

Our unicorn Lexie discovered this hidden lane of whimsy while driving home from work along Ann Street in Fortitude Valley. Constantly driving past every day after work, she wondered what this "Winn Lane" was and fortunately decided to have a peek one day!

So we headed down on Sunday for some late breakfast along with another friend of ours, Tash, who was unknowingly being roped in as official photographer for the day!

Flamingo Cafe was a delight! The food was delicious and I had the best coffee frappe I have had in a long time. It even had sprinkles and a cherry on top! Delish! Lexie had a home-made style iced tea with ginger, mint and lemon. A perfect morning wakeup :)

The decor is was very adorable and certainly lent itself to the overall delightful experience of the cafe.

We then headed next door to the House of Cards concept store. HoC is one of our favourite brands, not only because the collections are funky, fresh and bright but because it is an Australian label; and even more so a Brisbane one! They also stock a fun accessory brand called Shampaign Budget which both myself and Lexie bought some fun bling!

Fruity!

Poodles!

We then popped into Atavist, which was a wee haven of cute books, notepads and stationary treats.

Lastly we had a fashion fun-times montage in the rare/vintage store Sunday Social! Housing some novelty accessories and clothes, we may have all left with some new things... ;)

I am so glad Lexie discovered this little corner of fun, as I know we will be heading back again soon! All the staff working there were so lovely and easy going, which sums up what you can expect from Winn Lane. If you live in the area, we certainly recommend you head over and check it out!

Mixie Meets in The Pavilion

Hiya internet friends!
Lexie and I had a little meeting today (the one we were meant to have yesterday but got distracted by Topshop!). And we held it in the grandness that is The Pavilion. Capital T and P is a must.

So we got to planning some new shoots, recipes and some diy projects!

Though the meeting didn't really start until we had scoffed some delicious treats from French Twist, a cute cafe in Indooroopilly, and sipped some smoothies which I whipped up for us!

This fruity crush is simple and quick, plus it's dairy free which suits our delicate little bunny tummies!

1 punnet of strawberries
2 passionfruit
2 scoops Weis Passionfruit and Lychee sorbet
6 scoops Weis Mango Sorbet
1/2 cup of Mango Nectar Juice (Golden Circle)
Ice
Cut up the strawberries into halves, add the passionfruit, sorbet and juice into a blender then add your ice.

Blend Blend Blend!

Yum!

During our productive day making plans we even made a quick trip to Spotlight to get some supplies to make some cute little Christmas flower crowns! We also stopped by the shops and got ourselves a cute little polaroid camera. So much fun! And it came in pink - perfect!

Notebook: Kikki K
Polaroid Camera: Fuji Film InstaX from Target

Scully decided she wanted to get in on the photos!

Naww! I do love my fluffball! When she is clean ... !

We made a start on our flower crowns this afternoon but will finishing them off tomorrow in time for our Christmas shoot on Tuesday!

So fiddly but they do look lovely in the end!

Looking good!

That's all for today lords and ladies, we shall catch you later in the week!

Roasted Pumpkin Salad

Missy here, wishing you all a wondrous afternoon!

It's officially Summer here in Queensland and so it's getting hot and humid. Super.

When you're hot and hungry all you want is something simple that doesn't require a lot of time and effort. Nobody wants to stand cooking in the kitchen when it's a million degrees!

So today I made myself a roasted pumpkin salad! So what you'll need is:

  • 1/4  pumpkin, deseeded, peeled, cut into cubes
  • 3 tbs canola oil
  • 1 tbs fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbs extra virgin olive oil
  • handful of lettuce or baby spinach
  • 1 x 75g pkt toasted pine nuts
  • feta cheese
  • roasted chicken breast (optional)

I cut up the amount of pumpkin I wanted, placed it in a tray greased with canola oil and put it in the oven that was preheated to 180*

Let that cook for 15mins (you can leave it on longer if you want your pumpkin more crispy!) and get your other ingredients all ready.

The feta I used is absolutely delish! It's marinated in herbs and oil, I just get it from my local Coles!
Yum yum! I also added some chicken for some protein and sprinkled on the pine nuts.

Something quick and easy that takes no time at all! Yay!
