Falling Back To Earth

Happy Hump Day kids!

This past Sunday we toddled off the see the wondrous installation Falling Back to Earth by Cai Guo-Qiang at the Gallery of Modern Art.

Falling Back To Earth is a beautiful representation of the connection between all animals of the world - including humans.

We certainly recommend seeing it if you live in Brisbane or happen to visit! It's on until May and is really a magical piece of art.

Afterwards, we had a spot of lunch and a coffee or three at Alfred and Constance where we still enjoyed some company with some animal friends!

Crystal Healing

Now I know how this sounds! Very new age and totally kooky. And trust me - I was sceptical to begin with!

But when a vague curiosity in crystal healing developed, I soon decided to try it out! Without doing too much research (yolo!) I purchased a few crystals off www.thatcrystalsite.com which is a highly informative Australian website.

I purchased for myself an Amegreen crystal and a 'brain power' set of stones (which included blue chalcedony, sodalite, rutilated quartz & honey calcite).

These stones offered benefits such as emotional healing, finding clarity, improving communication, stimulating positive thought and healing negativity associated with perspectives and judgements. These are definitely all areas that needed some work!

When they arrived I wasn't too sure what to do with them! I hadn't thought this far ahead, that's for sure. I resorted to rolling them around in my hands and inspecting them closely before bed that night. Cause if nothing else - they're dang pretty!

For the following few nights following a journal entry or a relaxing shower, I started placing some of the stones on my forehead and décolletage.... yeah, I'm still winging it at this point.

Gradually over the next few days, I slowly began to notice a lift in my mood. This is definitely a plus - but is it legit? I'll have to continue my investigation.

On a short trip to Sydney I purchased myself a Lapis Lazuli stone and wore it around for day in a hemp pouch (both purchased from the same shop Nature's Energy).

Lapis Lazuli is considered to be quite a powerful stone, and is said to promote clarity. It is also considered to be a symbol of Truth.

And this is when I really felt a change. After wearing the Lazuli around for the day, when I sat down in my hotel room in the evening and mulled over my current concerns, they all seemed to melt away into understanding and resolutions!

Now this may seem somewhat convenient and fanciful, and I haven't decided whether it's a placebo effect or something like that. But I'm glad this clarity and increased well being came about -  and I think I'll carry on with my crystals!

Love & sparkles,

Welcome To Candy Kingdom

As I'm sure you've all noticed, here at Mixie we like a lil' bit of colour.

Okay maybe a lot!

And why not?! It's fun, expressive and even a tiny splash of colour to an outfit can change it!

And when your hair is looking like you stepped through a candy factory and got sucked into a machine … well … no outfit is dull.

Most ladies treasure their hair, and we certainly do. But finding a hairdresser who you know will do a fabulous job is a tricky one, but luckily for Lexie and I we do not have that problem!

Our dear magical hair dresser, Bonnie, from Scissors, Paper, Rock Salon has done a wonderful job on our hair!

I kinda chopped all my hair off and now look like Princess Bubblegum - The Younger Years.

While Lexie, inspired by Kesha's latest hair do turned herself into Lady Rainicorn!

 What a team, heh!

We took some more fun snaps at the back of work yesterday! Was such a lovely Summer day!

A Trip Down Winn Lane

Hey all!

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a wondrous New Year! Our first adventure of the new year was to a funky little place called Winn Lane.

Our unicorn Lexie discovered this hidden lane of whimsy while driving home from work along Ann Street in Fortitude Valley. Constantly driving past every day after work, she wondered what this "Winn Lane" was and fortunately decided to have a peek one day!

So we headed down on Sunday for some late breakfast along with another friend of ours, Tash, who was unknowingly being roped in as official photographer for the day!

Flamingo Cafe was a delight! The food was delicious and I had the best coffee frappe I have had in a long time. It even had sprinkles and a cherry on top! Delish! Lexie had a home-made style iced tea with ginger, mint and lemon. A perfect morning wakeup :)

The decor is was very adorable and certainly lent itself to the overall delightful experience of the cafe.

We then headed next door to the House of Cards concept store. HoC is one of our favourite brands, not only because the collections are funky, fresh and bright but because it is an Australian label; and even more so a Brisbane one! They also stock a fun accessory brand called Shampaign Budget which both myself and Lexie bought some fun bling!

Fruity!

Poodles!

We then popped into Atavist, which was a wee haven of cute books, notepads and stationary treats.

Lastly we had a fashion fun-times montage in the rare/vintage store Sunday Social! Housing some novelty accessories and clothes, we may have all left with some new things... ;)

I am so glad Lexie discovered this little corner of fun, as I know we will be heading back again soon! All the staff working there were so lovely and easy going, which sums up what you can expect from Winn Lane. If you live in the area, we certainly recommend you head over and check it out!
